Arjuna’s Northern Conquests and Tribute Collection
संवर्धितं यशो भूय: कर्मणा तेन भारत । द्रौपद्या: पाण्डवा राजन् परां प्रीतिमवर्धयन्
saṃvardhitaṃ yaśo bhūyaḥ karmaṇā tena bhārata | draupadyāḥ pāṇḍavā rājan parāṃ prītim avardhayan ||
વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા— હે ભારત, તે કર્મથી તેમનું યશ વધુ વધ્યું. હે રાજન, પાંડવોએ દ્રૌપદીની પરમ પ્રીતિ અને આનંદ પણ વધાર્યા।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous and beneficial action (karma) naturally expands one’s good name (yaśas) and also strengthens bonds of affection within the family; ethical success is measured not only by victory but by the harmony and goodwill it generates.
After the preceding deed—connected with the Pāṇḍavas’ successful undertaking—the narrator states that their renown grew even more, and that the Pāṇḍavas also increased Draupadī’s happiness and affection, indicating the positive domestic and social outcome of their conduct.
