ताडयामास समरे तिष्ठ तिछेति चाब्रवीत् । महाराज! उस समय उन दोनोंमें रोमांचकारी युद्ध होने लगा। धृष्टद्युम्नने समरांगणमें झुकी हुई गाँठवाले बाणसे राधापुत्र कर्णको चोट पहुँचायी और कहा--'खड़ा रह, खड़ा रह'

tāḍayāmāsa samare tiṣṭha tiṣṭheti cābravīt |
સંજય બોલ્યા—રણમાં તેણે તેને આઘાત કર્યો અને બોલ્યો, “ઊભો રહ—ઊભો રહ!” મહારાજ! તે સમયે બંને વચ્ચે અત્યંત ઘોર અને રોમાંચક યુદ્ધ શરૂ થયું. ધૃષ્ટદ્યુમ્ને સમરાંગણમાં વાંકડી ગાંઠવાળા (વક્ર-ગ્રન્થિ) બાણથી રાધાપુત્ર કર્ણને ઘાયલ કર્યો અને લલકારીને કહ્યું—“ઊભો રહ, ઊભો રહ!” આ ક્ષણ સમકક્ષને સામસામે ઊભો રાખી પરાક્રમ અજમાવવાની ક્ષત્રિય-મર્યાદા દર્શાવે છે।
