Arjuna’s Rapid Advance and the Bhīma–Śakuni Encounter
nipetur uravyā samare karṇa-sāyaka-tāḍitāḥ
The verse highlights the stark ethical reality of war: martial skill, when exercised, results in real suffering and death. It invites reflection on the burden of kṣatriya action—dharma-bound combat still carries grave human cost and karmic consequence.
Sañjaya reports that in the ongoing battle, fighters struck by Karṇa’s arrows collapse onto the earth, emphasizing Karṇa’s lethal effectiveness and the escalating devastation on the battlefield.
