Tripura-destruction exemplum and counsel to Śalya
राजन! उस समय शकुनिने अत्यन्त वेगशाली और झुकी हुई गाँठवाले तीखे भल््लोंद्वारा सुतसोमके धनुष, तरकस तथा अन्य सब उपकरणोंको भी नष्ट कर दिया ।। स च्छिन्नधन्वा विरथ: खड््गमुद्यम्य चानदत् । वैदूर्योत्पलवर्णाभं दन्तिदन्तमयत्सरुम्
rājan! tadā śakunir atyantavegaiḥ praṇataiḥ parvabhir niśitaiś ca bhallaiḥ sutasomasya dhanuḥ śarāsanaṃ tarakasaṃ cānyāni sarvāṇy upakaraṇāni ca vināśayām āsa || sa cchinnadhanvā viratho khaḍgam udyamya cānādat | vaidūryotpalavarṇābhaṃ dantidantamayaṃ śarum ||
હે રાજન, તે સમયે શકુનિએ અત્યંત વેગવાન, તીક્ષ્ણ, નીચે વળેલા સાંધાવાળા ભલ્લબાણોથી સুতસોમનું ધનુષ, તૂણીર તથા અન્ય સર્વ યુદ્ધોપકરણો નષ્ટ કરી દીધાં. ધનુષ કપાઈ જતાં સুতસોમ વિરથ થયો; ત્યારે તેણે ખડ્ગ ઉંચકીને ગર્જના કરી અને વૈદૂર્યમણિ તથા નીલ કમળ સમાન વર્ણવાળો, હાથીના દાંતથી બનેલો ભાલો હાથમાં લઈને, શસ્ત્રહાનિ છતાં યુદ્ધ ચાલુ રાખવા તૈયાર થયો.
