Droṇa-parva 112: Karṇa–Bhīma Engagement and Duryodhana’s Protective Order
वध्यमानं बल दृष्टवा युयुधानेन मारिष | अभ्यद्रवत् स्वयं द्रोण: सात्यकिं सत्यविक्रमम्
sañjaya uvāca | vadhyamānaṃ balaṃ dṛṣṭvā yuyudhānena māriṣa | abhyadravat svayaṃ droṇaḥ sātyakiṃ satyavikramam |
સંજય બોલ્યા— માનનીય નરેશ! યુયુધાન દ્વારા પોતાની સેના કાપાતી જોઈ દ્રોણાચાર્ય સ્વયં સત્યવિક્રમી સાત્યકી પર તૂટી પડ્યા.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the warrior-commander’s dharma: when one’s troops are being devastated, the leader must personally intervene. It frames courage and responsibility as ethical obligations in the context of kṣatriya warfare.
Sātyaki (Yuyudhāna) is inflicting heavy losses on Droṇa’s side. Seeing his forces being slain, Droṇa himself charges to engage Sātyaki directly.
