The verse highlights dharma as faithful performance of an entrusted duty: instructions are to be carried out with clarity and goodwill (prīti), not merely as forceful command. It also underscores responsible communication—reporting one’s task and intentions transparently within a righteous mission.
Sañjaya narrates to the king that, in Devaloka, Arjuna issues instructions, and the mighty-armed figure involved responds affectionately while discussing the work to be done. The line functions as a connective narrative detail situating Arjuna’s divinely-linked preparations within the broader war account.
