निकृत्तचाप: समरेडनपेक्ष: पराजित: शान्तनवेन चाजौ । विहाय बन्धूनथ सोदरांश्न क्व यास्यसे नानुरूपं तवेदम्‌,'युद्धमें शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मने तुम्हारा धनुष काटकर तुम्हें पराजित कर दिया; फिर भी तुम उनकी ओरसे निरपेक्ष हो रहे हो। अपने सगे भाइयोंको छोड़कर कहाँ जाओगे? यह कायदा तुम्हारे अनुरूप नहीं है

Transliteration

nikṛttacāpaḥ samare ’napekṣaḥ parājitaḥ śāntanavena cājau | vihāya bandhūn atha sodarāṁś ca kva yāsyase nānurūpaṁ tavedaṁ ||

Translation

સંજય બોલ્યો—યુદ્ધમાં શાંતનુનંદન ભીષ્મે તારો ધનુષ કાપી તને સમરમાં પરાજિત કર્યો; છતાં તું તેની તરફ નિરપેક્ષ જેવો વર્તે છે. પોતાના બંધુઓને, અહીં સુધી કે સગા ભાઈઓને છોડીને તું ક્યાં જઈશ? આવું વર્તન તને શોભતું નથી.
