Evening Withdrawal after Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
अभिमन्यु: सुसंक्रुद्ध: पिशज्ैस्तुरगोत्तमै: । संयुक्त रथमास्थाय प्रायाद् भीष्मरथं प्रति,यह देख अभिमन्यु अत्यन्त कुपित हो पिंगलवर्णके श्रेष्ठ घोड़ोंसे जुते हुए रथपर बैठकर भीष्मके रथकी ओर दौड़े आये। उनका वह रथ कर्णिकारके चिह्नसे युक्त स्वर्णनिर्मित विचित्र ध्वजसे सुशोभित था। उन्होंने भीष्मपर तथा उनकी रक्षाके लिये आये हुए उन श्रेष्ठ रथियोंपर भी आक्रमण किया
sañjaya uvāca | abhimanyuḥ susaṁkruddhaḥ piśaṅgaiḥ turagottamaiḥ saṁyuktaṁ ratham āsthāya prāyād bhīṣma-rathaṁ prati |
સંજય બોલ્યો—આ જોઈ અભિમન્યુ અત્યંત ક્રોધિત થયો. પિંગળવર્ણના શ્રેષ્ઠ અશ્વોથી જોડાયેલા રથ પર ચઢીને તે સીધો ભીષ્મના રથ તરફ ધસી આવ્યો. કર્ણિકાર-ચિહ્નવાળો જાંબૂનદ સોનાનો વિચિત્ર ધ્વજ તેના રથને શોભાવતો હતો. તેણે ભીષ્મ પર જ નહીં, તેમની રક્ષા માટે આવેલા શ્રેષ્ઠ રથીઓ પર પણ આક્રમણ કર્યું।
