संहतानामनीकानां व्यूढानां भरतर्षभ । संसर्गात् समुदीर्णानां विमर्द: सुमहानभूत्,भरतश्रेष्ठ) संगठित, व्यूहबद्ध तथा युद्धविषयक उत्साहसे उद्यत हुए दोनों दलोंके योद्धाओंकी जब मुठभेड़ हुई, उस समय बड़ी भारी मार-काट मची थी
saṃhatānām anīkānāṃ vyūḍhānāṃ bharatarṣabha | saṃsargāt samudīrṇānāṃ vimardaḥ sumahān abhūt ||
સંજય બોલ્યા— “ભરતશ્રેષ્ઠ! સંગઠિત અને વ્યૂહબદ્ધ, યુદ્ધ માટે ઉદ્યત થયેલી બંને સેનાઓ પરસ્પર ભીડતાં જ અત્યંત ભયંકર એવો મહાસંહાર ઊભો થયો.”
