शिक्षाबलेन निहतं पित्रा तव विशाम्पते । भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस दसवें दिनके आनेपर एकमात्र भीष्मने युद्धमें मत्स्य और पांचालदेशकी सेनाओंके अगणित हाथी
sañjaya uvāca | śikṣābalena nihataṃ pitrā tava viśāmpate |
સંજય બોલ્યો—પ્રજાનાથ! આ બધું તમારા પિતાએ પોતાના શસ્ત્ર-શિક્ષાના બળથી જ કર્યું. દસમો દિવસ આવતાં એકલા ભીષ્મે યુદ્ધમાં મત્સ્ય અને પાંચાલની સેનાના અસંખ્ય હાથી-ઘોડાં મારી નાખ્યા અને સાત મહારથીઓનો વધ કર્યો. પછી પાંચ હજાર રથીઓને મારી, તમારા પિતૃતુલ્ય ભીષ્મે તે મહાયુદ્ધમાં પોતાના અસ્ત્ર-શિક્ષાબળથી ચૌદ હજાર પદાતિ, એક હજાર હાથી અને દસ હજાર ઘોડાંનો સંહાર કર્યો.
