Adhyāya 108 — Nimitta-darśana and Drona’s counsel amid Arjuna’s advance (निमित्तदर्शनं द्रोणोपदेशश्च)
tato duryodhano rājā śūrāṇāṁ hayasādinām | ayutaṁ preṣayāmāsa pāṇḍavānāṁ nivāraṇe ||

The verse highlights how leadership choices in conflict often manifest as strategic obstruction rather than dialogue; ethically, it points to the momentum of hostility—once war is embraced, decisions tend to prioritize tactical advantage over reconciliation.
Sañjaya reports that Duryodhana orders a detachment of ten thousand cavalry to be sent out specifically to block or restrain the Pāṇḍavas’ advance in the ongoing battle situation.
