इन्द्र वाच सर्वान्‌ कामाननुयातो<सि वित्र यस्त्वं देवानां मन्त्रवित्सुपुरोधा: । उभौ च ते जरामृत्यू व्यतीतौ कि संवर्तस्तव कर्ताद्य विप्र,इन्द्रने कहा--ब्रह्मन! सम्पूर्ण मनोवांछित भोग आपको प्राप्त हैं; क्योंकि आप देवताओंके मन्त्रज्ञ पुरोहित हैं। आपने जरा और मृत्यु दोनोंको जीत लिया है। फिर संवर्त आपका क्या कर सकते हैं?

indra uvāca—sarvān kāmān anuyāto ’si, vipra; yas tvaṃ devānāṃ mantravit supurodhāḥ | ubhau ca te jarāmṛtyū vyatītau; kiṃ saṃvartas tava kartādya, vipra ||

ઇન્દ્રએ કહ્યું— હે વિપ્ર! તમને સર્વ મનગમતા ભોગ પ્રાપ્ત થયા છે, કારણ કે તમે દેવતાઓના મંત્રજ્ઞ શ્રેષ્ઠ પુરોહિત છો. તમે જરા અને મૃત્યુ—બન્નેને પણ વટાવી દીધાં છે. તો આજે સંવર્ત તમારું શું બગાડી શકે?
