यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं
yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |
વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા—તે સમયે તે વિપ્રવરે તે બંને કુંડળો મૃગચર્મ પર બાંધી રાખ્યાં હતાં. તેમની નજર માત્ર વેલીઓ પર જ હતી; કાપેલી વેલીઓ ક્યાં પડી રહી છે તેની તેમને ચેતના ન હતી. તેથી તેમણે તોડેલી લગભગ બધી વેલીઓ એ જ મૃગચર્મ પર આવી પડી, જેમાં તે બંને કુંડળો બંધાયેલા હતાં.
