Educational Q&A

The verse models respectful perception: noble character is expressed through restrained, auspicious praise—seeing a person not merely as an individual but within dharmic relationships (here, Subhadrā as Kṛṣṇa’s sister) and recognizing dignity in the midst of grief and transition.

Sañjaya identifies and describes Subhadrā to a Brahmin interlocutor, highlighting her serene, moonlike radiance and her place among the women, while linking her identity to the incomparable discus-wielding Kṛṣṇa.
