Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
पाद्यमासनमेवाथ दीपमन्नं प्रतिश्रयम् । दद्यादतिथिपूजार्थ स यज्ञ: पजचदक्षिण:
Bhīṣma uvāca: pādyaṃ āsanam eva atha dīpam annaṃ pratiśrayam | dadyād atithipūjārthaṃ sa yajñaḥ pañcadakṣiṇaḥ ||
અતિથિપૂજા માટે પાદ્ય (પગ ધોવા માટેનું જળ), આસન, પ્રકાશ માટે દીવો, ભોજન માટે અન્ન અને નિવાસ માટે આશ્રય—આ પાંચ વસ્તુઓ આપવી જોઈએ; આને ‘પંચદક્ષિણા યજ્ઞ’ કહે છે.
