Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)

नामभिश्षास्तुव॑ं देवं ततस्तुष्टो5भवद्‌ भव: । परशुं च ततो देवो दिव्यान्यस्त्राणि चैव मे

nāma-bhiḥ śāstā tvaṃ devaṃ tataḥ tuṣṭo 'bhavad bhavaḥ | paraśuṃ ca tato devo divyāny astrāṇi caiva me ||

વૈશમ્પાયન બોલ્યા—“આ જ નામોથી તે દેવની સ્તુતિ કરતાં ભવ (શિવ) પ્રસન્ન થયા. ત્યારબાદ દેવએ મને પોતાનો પરશુ અને દિવ્ય અસ્ત્રો આપ્યાં અને કહ્યું—‘તને પાપ લાગશે નહીં; યુદ્ધમાં તું અજેય બનશે; મૃત્યુ તારા પર પ્રભુત્વ જમાવી શકશે નહીં; અને તું અજર-અમર રહેશે.’”
