नमां मनुष्या: पश्यन्ति न मां पश्यन्ति देवता: । पापेनापिहित: पाप: पापमेवाभिजायते
na māṁ manuṣyāḥ paśyanti na māṁ paśyanti devatāḥ | pāpenāpihitaḥ pāpaḥ pāpam evābhijāyate ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું— “હું પાપ કરું ત્યારે મને ન મનુષ્યો જુએ છે, ન દેવતાઓ જુએ છે।” એમ માની પાપથી ઢંકાયેલો પાપાત્મા વારંવાર પાપ જ કરે છે અને અંતે પાપયોનિમાં જ જન્મ લે છે.
