पराक्रमैस्तेडपि तदा व्यघ्नन्नत्रिसुरक्षिता: । उद्धासितश्न सविता देवास्त्राता हतासुरा:
parākramais te ’pi tadā vyaghnaṁn atrisurakṣitāḥ | uddhāsitaś ca savitā devās trātā hatāsurāḥ ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું— ત્યારે અત્રિના રક્ષણથી સુરક્ષિત દેવતાઓએ પણ પોતાના પરાક્રમથી શત્રુઓનો સંહાર કર્યો. સવિતા (સૂર્ય) ફરી દીપ્તિમાન થયો, દેવતાઓ બચી ગયા અને અસુરો નષ્ટ થયા. અત્રિના તપોતેજથી તે મહાન અસુરો દગ્ધ થતા જોઈ, નિર્ભય દેવતાઓ ઊભા થઈ દૈત્યોનો વધ કરવા લાગ્યા; આમ ધર્મમય રક્ષણ અને આંતરિક તપ પરાક્રમને બદલે નહીં—પરંતુ તેને સફળતા સુધી પહોંચાડે છે।
