Transliteration

sahasrabhuja-bhacchīmān kārtavīryo 'bhavat prabhuḥ | asya lokasya sarvasya māhiṣmatyāṃ mahābalaḥ ||

Translation

ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—પ્રાચીન કાળમાં માહિષ્મતી નગરીમાં સહસ્રભુજ, તેજસ્વી અને મહાબલવાન કાર્તવીર્ય નામનો એક પ્રભુ રાજા થયો; આ સમગ્ર લોક પર તેનું જ આધિપત્ય હતું।
