भीष्म उवाच ज्येष्ठवत्‌ तात वर्तस्व ज्येष्ठोडसि सततं भवान्‌ । गुरोर्गरीयसी वृत्तिया च शिष्यस्यथ भारत

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | jyeṣṭhavat tāta vartasva jyeṣṭho 'si satataṁ bhavān | guror garīyasī vṛttir yā ca śiṣyasya tathā bhārata ||

Translation

ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—વત્સ, ભરતનંદન, તું ભાઈઓમાં જ્યેષ્ઠ છે; તેથી સદા જ્યેષ્ઠને યોગ્ય એવો વ્યવહાર કર. ગુરુ શિષ્ય પ્રત્યે જેવો ગૌરવભર્યો, ગંભીર અને રક્ષક ભાવ રાખે છે, હે ભારત, એવો જ ભાવ તારે પણ ભાઈઓ પ્રત્યે રાખવો જોઈએ.
