Gārhasthya-dharma: Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī-saṃvāda
Householder Duties and Daily Offerings
कुत्तों, चाण्डालों और पक्षियोंके लिये भूमिपर अन्न रख देना चाहिये। यह वैश्वदेव नामक कर्म है। इसका सायंकाल और प्रात:काल अनुष्ठान किया जाता है ।।
vayudeva uvāca | kuttebhyaś caṇḍālebhyaś ca pakṣibhyaś ca bhūmau annaṁ nidhātavyaṁ | etad vaiśvadeva-nāma karma | asya sāyaṁkālaṁ prātaḥkālaṁ cānuṣṭhānaṁ kriyate || etāṁs tu dharmān gārhasthyān yaḥ kuryād anasūyakaḥ | sa iha ṛṣivarān prāpya pretya loke mahīyate ||
વાયુએ કહ્યું— કૂતરાંઓ, ચાંડાલો અને પક્ષીઓ માટે ભૂમિ પર અન્ન મૂકવું જોઈએ. આ ‘વૈશ્વદેવ’ નામનું કર્મ છે; તેનું અનुष્ઠાન સાંજ અને સવાર—બન્ને સમયે થાય છે. જે મનુષ્ય દોષદૃષ્ટિ અને અસૂયા વિના આ ગૃહસ્થધર્મોનું પાલન કરે છે, તેને આ લોકમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ ઋષિઓના આશીર્વાદ મળે છે અને મૃત્યુ પછી તે પુણ્યલોકોમાં માન પામે છે.
