भयादू रणं परित्यज्य शक्रमेवाभिशिश्रियु: । बहुत-से देवता बार-बार प्रयत्न करनेपर भी कभी सफलमनोरथ न हो सके। उनकी आशा टूट गयी और वे भयके मारे युद्ध छोड़कर इन्द्रकी ही शरणमें चले गये
bhayād raṇaṃ parityajya śakram evābhiśiśriyuḥ |
ભયથી તેઓ રણ છોડીને માત્ર શક્ર (ઇન્દ્ર)ની શરણમાં ગયા. ઘણા દેવતાઓ વારંવાર પ્રયત્ન કરવા છતાં સફળ ન થયા; તેમની આશા તૂટી ગઈ અને તેઓ ભયભીત થઈ યુદ્ધ ત્યજી ઇન્દ્રની જ શરણમાં પહોંચી ગયા.
