Baladeva Marriage
tad gaccha deva-devāṁśo baladevo mahā-balaḥ kanyā-ratnam idaṁ rājan nara-ratnāya dehi bhoḥ
This verse depicts the royal duty of offering a virtuous maiden to a worthy groom—described as a “jewel among men”—emphasizing discernment and dharmic responsibility in marriage alliances.
The speaker honors Balarama as a divine expansion of the Supreme Lord and as extraordinarily powerful, indicating both His transcendental status and His ability to accomplish the mission being requested.
It encourages making major family decisions responsibly—seeking worthy character and compatibility, and approaching sacred responsibilities with reverence for divine guidance.
