Paraśurāma Avenges Jamadagni; Restoration Through Sacrifice; Viśvāmitra’s Line and Devarāta (Śunaḥśepha)
evaṁ bhṛguṣu viśvātmā bhagavān harir īśvaraḥ avatīrya paraṁ bhāraṁ bhuvo ’han bahuśo nṛpān
This verse states that the Supreme Lord Hari descends as an avatāra and repeatedly eliminates oppressive rulers, thereby lightening the earth’s burden and reestablishing dharma.
Śukadeva explains that the Lord incarnated in the Bhṛgu lineage and slew many kings to remove the overwhelming burden created by adharmic, abusive rulers.
The verse encourages faith that God protects dharma; practically, one should reduce harm and arrogance in leadership and personal conduct, and support righteousness and spiritual culture.
