Un disciple digne doit consacrer au Guru tout ce qui concerne le corps et ses besoins. Après avoir d’abord offert au Guru la meilleure part de la nourriture cuite, il ne doit manger qu’ensuite, avec la permission du Guru.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that surrender (śaraṇāgati) is made concrete through Guru-sevā: offering one’s resources and even daily necessities first to the Guru, thereby purifying ego and aligning the disciple with Shiva’s grace-bearing lineage.
In Shaiva tradition the Guru is honored as the revealer of Shiva-tattva and the right method of Linga worship; serving and obeying the Guru safeguards correct ritual, mantra-dīkṣā, and devotional attitude toward Saguna Shiva.
A practical discipline is to offer the first portion of food (naivedya-bhāva) and take one’s meal only after permission—training mindfulness, restraint, and devotion; it supports mantra practice by cultivating humility and purity.
