Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause

Son cœur est constitué de l’essence du Feu ; sa peau, de l’essence de l’Eau ; ses genoux, de l’essence de la Terre—ainsi tous ses membres sont-ils formés des essences des éléments.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Cosmic Event: Cosmic embodiment: pañcabhūta-sāratva (the Lord’s limbs described as essences of elements)
It teaches that the Lord’s manifested (saguṇa) form pervades and transcends the five elements; contemplating this dissolves the sense of separateness and turns the devotee toward Shiva as the inner ruler (Pati) of all tattvas.
In Linga worship, the devotee honors Shiva as the ground of all elements; this verse supports seeing every elemental function—heat, fluidity, solidity—as Shiva’s presence, making external ritual and inner contemplation one.
Meditate on Shiva pervading the elements within one’s own body while repeating the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering water and sacred ash (Tripuṇḍra/Bhasma) with the insight that the elements return to their Lord.
