(Avadhūteśvara-līlā) — Śiva Tests Indra’s Pride on the Way to Kailāsa

It teaches that worldly supremacy (like Indra’s) is not absolute: when pride and anger arise, the soul’s power can be bound, and only alignment with dharma and Shiva’s higher order restores true strength.
In Saguna worship, Shiva is revered as the Lord who governs all powers; the verse reflects that even divine authorities are subject to Shiva’s ordinance, often expressed through mantra—central to Linga worship and Shaiva discipline.
It highlights mantra-sādhana and restraint of anger: steady japa (especially the Panchakshara) with Tripuṇḍra and Rudrākṣa supports humility and inner control, preventing ‘burning’ by manyu (wrath).
