पार्वत्याः यात्रासंस्कारः तथा पातिव्रत्योपदेशः / Preparations for Girijā’s Auspicious Journey and the Teaching on Pātivratya
कुर्यात्पत्यननुज्ञाता नोपवासव्रतादिकम् । अन्यथा तत्फलं नास्ति परत्र नरकम्व्रजेत्
kuryātpatyananujñātā nopavāsavratādikam | anyathā tatphalaṃ nāsti paratra narakamvrajet
L’épouse ne doit pas entreprendre jeûnes, vœux (vrata) et observances semblables sans l’accord de son époux. Sinon, leur fruit est perdu et, dans l’au-delà, elle irait en enfer.

Significance: Highlights dharma as a binding order: religious acts done against rightful relational duties are said to lose fruit—warning that misaligned practice can become a cause of bondage rather than uplift.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
It teaches that devotion and austerity must be aligned with dharma; religious merit (phala) is safeguarded when worship is performed with right order, responsibility, and harmony in the gṛhastha (householder) life.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion are praised in the Purana, but this verse stresses that even Shiva-oriented vratas should be done in a dharmic manner; otherwise the intended merit of the observance is nullified.
It implies that fasts (upavāsa) and vows (vrata) should be undertaken with proper authorization and household discipline; one may still maintain daily Shiva-smaraṇa, japa, and simple pūjā in a way that does not violate prescribed dharma.
