Un immense cri de détresse s’éleva dans les trois mondes, parmi tout ce qui se meut et ce qui demeure immobile. Tous les êtres des trois mondes furent saisis du doute le plus profond et de l’incertitude.

It depicts how cosmic imbalance produces universal fear and saṁśaya (doubt); in Shaiva thought, doubt is a pasha (bond) that obscures clarity, and stability returns when beings turn toward Pati (Shiva) as the inner refuge and ruler of the worlds.
When the worlds are shaken, devotees seek an accessible support (ālambana) for devotion—Saguna Shiva, especially through the Shiva-Linga, which symbolizes Shiva’s steady presence and restores confidence, order, and protection.
In times of fear and confusion, take refuge in japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and steady the mind with simple Shiva-upāsanā such as vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and focused remembrance of Shiva as the remover of saṁśaya.
