FAQs

This is a colophon verse marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it emphasizes that disciplined tapas (austerity) and steadfast dharma—exemplified by Anasūyā—are honored within Shaiva tradition as supports for purity, devotion, and grace.

Though it is a chapter-ending title line, it frames the narrative as part of the Kotirudra Samhita, where Saguna Shiva is commonly approached through sacred places and worship; the theme of tapas aligns with preparing the devotee for effective Shiva worship (including Linga-upasana) through inner purification.

The verse itself prescribes no specific rite, but the chapter title points to tapas as a practice—undertaken as vrata, japa (often with “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and disciplined living—supporting Shaiva sadhana.
