The wealth stored in Ravana's palace was akin to what lay in the palaces of Kubera, Yama or Varuna, and ever more exquisite.
It emphasizes the sanctity of the dharmapatnī (lawful wife) and the moral necessity of verifying truth: Hanumān’s mind tests possibilities before concluding, demonstrating satya-seeking as part of dharma.
Hanumān, still searching for Sītā, momentarily wonders whether Sītā could resemble these palace women—an internal check before firmer judgment.
Prudence and truthfulness: he does not assume; he evaluates carefully to avoid error.
