काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम्
Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation
अलं वैक्लब्यमालम्ब्य धैर्यमात्मगतं स्मर।त्वद्विधानां न सदृशमीदृशं बुद्धिलाघवम्।।।।
alaṃ vaiklabyam ālambya dhairyam ātmagataṃ smara | tvadvidhānāṃ na sadṛśam īdṛśaṃ buddhilāghavam ||
« Cesse de t'accrocher au désespoir ; souviens-toi de la fermeté qui t'est naturelle. Une telle inconstance d'esprit ne sied pas à un homme de ta stature. »
'With all my capability I will kill Ravana and his clan. Thus I will be able to satisfy you soon with my efforts.
Maryādā (dignified conduct) sustained by dhairya (steadfastness): dharma requires inner discipline, especially in crisis.
Sugrīva counsels Rāma to restrain despair and to act from his inherent composure and nobility.
Dhairya (patience/fortitude) and self-command as marks of a righteous leader.
