The Monsoon Description and Rama’s Counsel on Timing
अथैवमुक्तः प्रणिधाय लक्ष्मणःकृताञ्जलिस्तत्प्रतिपूज्य भाषितम्।उवाच रामं स्वभिरामदर्शनंप्रदर्शयन्दर्शनमात्मनश्शुभम्।।
athaivam uktaḥ praṇidhāya lakṣmaṇaḥ kṛtāñjalis tat-pratipūjya bhāṣitam | uvāca rāmaṁ svabhirāma-darśanaṁ pradarśayan darśanam ātmanaḥ śubham ||
Ainsi interpellé, Lakshmana réfléchit; puis, les paumes jointes, honorant les paroles de Rama, il s’adressa à Rama—si agréable à contempler—exprimant son propre avis, auspiceux et respectueux.
Having heard this, Lakshmana expressed his considered opinion with due respect to handsome Rama:
Dharma is expressed as respectful discourse and humility: even when offering counsel, Lakshmana honors Rama and speaks with propriety.
After Rama’s reasoning, Lakshmana prepares to respond—having reflected—and offers his counsel with folded hands.
Lakshmana’s devotion and disciplined speech: reverence, thoughtfulness, and courteous counsel.
