Sugriva’s Coronation and Angada’s Installation
ततः काञ्चनशैलाभ स्तरुणार्कनिभाननः।अब्रवीत्प्राञ्जलिर्वाक्यं हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः।।
tataḥ kuśaparistīrṇaṃ samiddhaṃ jātavedasam |
mantrapūtena haviṣā hutvā mantravido janāḥ॥
Alors, les maîtres du rite, après avoir étendu l’herbe kuśa et allumé le feu sacré, Jātavedas, offrirent des oblations de havis sanctifié par les mantras.
Hanuman, son of the Wind-god, glowing like a golden mountain, whose face resembled the rising Sun addressed Rama with folded hands:
Dharma is maintained through correct performance of sacred duties: mantra-guided offerings symbolize sincerity, truthfulness of intent (satya-bhāva), and adherence to established sacred order.
The priests commence the fire-ritual portion of Sugrīva’s consecration, preparing the altar with kuśa and offering sanctified oblations.
