Tara’s Lament and Counsel after Vali’s Fall
अभार्याश्च सभार्याश्च सन्त्यत्र वनचारिणः।लुब्धेभ्यो विप्रयुक्तेभ्यस्तेभ्यो नस्तुमुलं भयम्।।
abhāryāś ca sabhāryāś ca santy atra vanacāriṇaḥ | lubdhebhyo viprayuktebhyas tebhyo nas tumulaṃ bhayam ||
«Ici se trouvent des singes errant dans la forêt : les uns sans épouse, les autres avec épouse ; les uns cupides, les autres séparés de leurs femmes. De tels êtres nous vient une crainte redoutable.»
'There are monkeys wandering in the forest (sent away by Vali). Some of them have made others' wives their own and some have been separated from their wives. They are a great cause of fear.'
Dharma as social restraint: when desire, grievance, and displacement dominate, society becomes vulnerable to violence and exploitation.
The speakers describe volatile groups of vānaras outside normal domestic order and warn they could threaten Kishkindhā during the power vacuum.
