कबन्धमोक्षः—सुग्रीवमैत्र्युपदेशः
Kabandha’s Release and Counsel to Befriend Sugriva
स मेरुशृङ्गाग्रगतामनिन्दितां प्रविश्य पातालतलेऽपि वा श्रिताम्।प्लवङ्गमानां प्रवरस्तव प्रियां निहत्य रक्षांसि पुनः प्रदास्यति।।।।
sa meruśṛṅgāgragatām aninditāṃ praviśya pātālatale ’pi vā śritām |
plavaṅgamānāṃ pravaras tava priyāṃ nihatya rakṣāṃsi punaḥ pradāsyati ||
Quand bien même ton aimée sans tache aurait atteint le faîte du mont Meru, ou se serait réfugiée dans les profondeurs du monde souterrain, le plus éminent des vānara y pénétrera, abattra les rākṣasa et te la rendra encore.
Along with Lakshmna you are passing through a bad period on account of which your wife has been kidnapped and you, lying low, are experiencing great grief, O Rama !
Dharma requires unwavering commitment to rescue and protect the blameless: distance or danger does not cancel duty when the cause is righteous.
Kabandha concludes his assurance that the monkey champion(s) will penetrate any realm, defeat hostile forces, and return Sita to Rama.
Courage in service of justice: heroic strength is portrayed as legitimate only when directed to restore what is rightfully protected (Sita’s safety and marital order).
