brahmovāca | jānāmi bāṣkaliṃ taṃ tu varadānācca garvitam | ajeyaṃ bhavatāṃ manye viṣṇusādhyo bhaviṣyati
Brahmā dit : «Je connais ce Bāṣkali, enorgueilli par la faveur d’un don. Je le tiens pour invincible à vos yeux ; seul Viṣṇu pourra le dompter».

Brahmā explains that Bāṣkali’s boon has made him both proud and effectively “unconquerable” for the present opponents, and that only Viṣṇu has the capacity to subdue him.
It highlights that boons can create temporary invincibility and arrogance, requiring a higher divine principle (here, Viṣṇu) to restore balance when ordinary forces cannot.
Power gained through external favors can lead to pride and downfall; humility and right use of strength are implied virtues, while arrogance becomes a cause for divine intervention.
