FAQs

The verse emphasizes samupoṣaṇa (a complete fast) performed on Jayantī, especially by those committed to truth and refined through tīrtha-sevā (service to sacred pilgrimage places).

It presents service to tīrthas as a discipline that purifies and steadies the person (kṛtātmanām), making their religious observances—like fasting on Jayantī—particularly meritorious.

Satya-vrata—commitment to truth—is highlighted as the key ethical foundation accompanying the ritual act of fasting.
