Concept: Purification is completed through tapas (shaving/discipline) and dāna (cows and proper dakṣiṇā), aligning inner remorse with outward restitution.

Application: When making amends, pair inner resolve with tangible restitution—support dharmic causes, compensate harms, and accept visible disciplines that curb pride.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

The verse links purification (śuddhi) with a ritual shaving/tonsure done while retaining the śikhā, along with charitable giving—specifically two cows—and offering a proper dakṣiṇā.

It presents purification as both ritual and ethical: cows represent a major form of dāna, while dakṣiṇā indicates honoring and supporting the officiant/ritual context in a fitting manner.

Purification is not portrayed as a mere external act; it is completed through rightful generosity—giving appropriately (yathārtha) and supporting religious duty through dāna and dakṣiṇā.
