Pātivratya-kathana
The Narrative of the Pativrata
Suta (narrator) describing the episode within the Uttara-Bhaga narrative
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
The verse highlights how repeated actions—here, persistent speech—accumulate results over time, manifesting as tangible consequences, indicating the Purāṇic principle that karma ripens gradually but surely.
Indirectly, it contrasts wholesome, dharmic speech and remembrance with harmful repetition; Bhakti traditions emphasize nāma-smaraṇa and sattvic speech as purifying, whereas negative patterns lead to suffering.
While not a Vedāṅga lesson, it uses an Ayurvedic technical term—tridoṣa—showing Purāṇic integration of traditional health science (āyurveda) to describe how imbalance can arise over time.
