Adhyaya 23 — Ashvatara’s Vow for Madalasa and the Bestowal of Musical Science by Sarasvati
इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणे कुवलयाश्वीयॆ मदालसावियोग नाम द्वाविंशोऽध्यायः ।
त्रयोविंशोऽध्यायः पुत्रावूचतुः स राजपुत्रः संप्राप्य वेगादात्मपुरं ततः ।
पित्रोरवन्दिषुः पादौ दिदृक्षुश्च मदालसाम् ॥
iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe kuvalayāśvīye madālasāviyogo nāma dvāviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ | trayoviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ putrāvūcatuḥ sa rājaputraḥ saṃprāpya vegād ātmapuraṃ tataḥ | pitror avandiṣuḥ pādau didṛkṣuś ca madālasām ||
Ainsi, dans le Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa, dans le cycle de Kuvalayāśva, s’achève le vingt-deuxième chapitre intitulé « La séparation d’avec Madālasā ». Commence maintenant le vingt-troisième chapitre. Les deux fils parlèrent. Ce prince, parvenu rapidement dans sa propre cité, se prosterna aux pieds de ses parents et désira voir Madālasā.

The swift return to ‘one’s own city’ and bowing to parents can symbolize returning to one’s inner source and aligning with foundational principles before seeking the ‘beloved’ (Madālasā) as a figure of sought truth/wholeness.
