Adhyaya 10 — Jaimini’s Questions on Birth, Death, Karma, and the Embodied Journey
प्रयान्त्याशु विमानानि नानादिव्यास्त्रगुज्ज्वलाः ।
तस्माच्च प्रच्युता राज्ञामन्येषां च महात्मनाम् ॥
prayānty āśu vimānāni nānādivyāstragujjvalāḥ | tasmāc ca pracyutā rājñām anyeṣāṃ ca mahātmanām ||
Accourent promptement les chars aériens (vimānas), resplendissants de guirlandes et d’ornements divins variés ; et de cet état céleste, les rois et autres âmes magnanimes, lorsque leur mérite s’épuise, déchoient.

Even exalted rewards are impermanent: svarga is enjoyed until puṇya is spent, after which descent occurs. This encourages pursuit of enduring aims (mokṣa) beyond merely accruing merit for pleasure.
