Ballava (Bhīma) Seeks Employment as Royal Cook in Virāṭa’s Court
बलेन रूपेण नरर्षभो महा- नपूर्वरूपेण यथामरस्तथा । महाभ्रजालैरिव संवृतो रवि- यथानलो भस्मवृतश्च वीर्यवान्,वे बड़े यशस्वी और मत्स्यराष्ट्रके अधिपति थे। राजा युधिष्ठिर भी महान् यशस्वी, कौरववंशकी मर्यादाको बढ़ानेवाले तथा महानुभाव (अत्यन्त प्रभावशाली) थे। सब राजे- महाराजे उनका सत्कार करते थे। तीखे विषवाले सर्पकी भाँति वे दुर्धर्ष थे। बल और रूपकी दृष्टिसे मनुष्योंमें सबसे श्रेष्ठ और महान् थे। अपने अपूर्व रूपके कारण वे देवताके समान जान पड़ते थे। महामेघमालाओंसे आवृत सूर्य तथा राखमें छिपी हुई अग्निके समान उनका तेजस्वी रूप वेशभूषासे आच्छादित था। वे बड़े पराक्रमी थे

Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : Par la force et la beauté, il était un grand taureau parmi les hommes ; par son apparence hors du commun, il semblait un dieu. Pourtant, son éclat était dissimulé par le déguisement — tel le soleil voilé par d’immenses amas de nuages, ou le feu caché sous la cendre — tandis que sa puissance intérieure demeurait intacte.
