Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
ददर्श नान्तरं कश्चित् पार्थस्याददतोडपि च
vaiśampāyana uvāca | dadarśa nāntaraṃ kaścit pārthasyādadato 'pi ca |
Vaiśampāyana dit : Nul ne pouvait discerner la moindre pause dans les gestes de Pārtha (Arjuna), même lorsqu’il continuait à saisir des flèches. La suite de bander, d’encocher et de lâcher était si ininterrompue que le vent lui-même n’y trouvait aucun interstice.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores disciplined excellence (abhyāsa and ekāgratā) in the performance of one’s duty: Arjuna’s flawless continuity of action symbolizes mastery governed by purpose and responsibility in a dharmic struggle, not impulsive violence.
During the Virāṭa episode’s battle scene, Arjuna’s archery is described as so swift and continuous that observers cannot detect any pause between his taking, placing, and releasing arrows—an image of overwhelming martial superiority.
