Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
तौ व्यवाहरतां युद्धे संरब्धी रणशोभिनौ । उदीरयन्तौ समरे दिव्यान्यस्त्राणि भागश:
tau vyavāharatāṃ yuddhe saṃrabdhī raṇaśobhinau | udīrayantau samare divyāny astrāṇi bhāgaśaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Ces deux guerriers, enflammés de colère, poursuivirent le combat—tous deux resplendissants sur le champ de bataille. Dans cette rencontre, ils ne cessaient de lancer, tour à tour et avec la juste mesure, diverses armes divines, gardant la tenue d’une guerre droite jusque dans leur fureur.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when anger surges in war, the ideal is dharma-yuddha: disciplined conduct, measured escalation, and adherence to proper martial norms rather than uncontrolled violence.
Two opposing heroes are locked in combat, appearing splendid on the battlefield, and they alternately discharge different celestial weapons, each bringing forth powerful astras in turn.
