Gāṇḍīva-Nirghoṣa Episode
स तदप्यस्य कौन्तेयश्चिच्छेद नतपर्वणा । एवमन्यानि चापानि बहूनि कृतहस्तवत् | शारद्वतस्य चिच्छेद पाण्डव: परवीरहा,परंतु कुन्तीनन्दनने झुकी हुई गाँठवाले एक बाणसे उनके उस धनुषको भी काट दिया और इसी प्रकार कृपाचार्यके बहुत-से दूसरे धनुष भी शत्रुवीरोंका संहार करनेवाले पाण्डुनन्दनने हाथकी फुर्ती दिखानेमें कुशल वीरकी भाँति छिन्न-भिन्न कर डाले
sa tad apy asya kaunteyaś ciccheda nataparvaṇā | evam anyāni cāpāni bahūni kṛtahastavat | śāradvatasya ciccheda pāṇḍavaḥ paravīrahā ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Alors le fils de Kuntī (Arjuna) trancha aussi cet arc-là d’une flèche dont l’articulation était courbée. De même, le Pāṇḍava—tueur des héros ennemis—mit en pièces bien d’autres arcs de Śāradvata (Kṛpa), déployant la vitesse et la maîtrise d’un archer accompli. L’épisode souligne une habileté disciplinée, destinée à neutraliser la capacité de nuire plutôt qu’une violence mue par la colère.
