Dhaumya’s Counsel on Incognito Conduct in a Royal Household (राजवसतौ आचरण-निति)
नाहमस्य प्रियो5स्मीति मत्वा सेवेत पण्डित: । अप्रमत्तश्न सततं हित॑ कुर्यात् प्रियं च यत्,दिद्वान् पुरुष “मैं राजाका प्रिय व्यक्ति नहीं हूँ", ऐसा मानता हुआ सदा सावधान रहकर उसकी सेवा करे। राजाके लिये जो हितकर और प्रिय हो, वही कार्य करे
nāham asya priyo ’smīti matvā seveta paṇḍitaḥ | apramattaś ca satataṃ hitaṃ kuryāt priyaṃ ca yat ||
Le sage doit servir en se disant : « Je ne suis pas nécessairement cher à ce roi. » Toujours vigilant, sans jamais se relâcher, qu’il n’accomplisse que ce qui est utile au souverain—et aussi ce qui lui plaît.
