Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
स्पर्थया च बलोन्मत्ता तावुभौ सूतपाण्डवौ । निशीथे पर्यकर्षेतां बलिनौ निर्जने स्थले
spardhayā ca balonmattā tāv ubhau sūtapāṇḍavau | niśīthe paryakarṣetāṃ balinau nirjane sthale ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Poussés jusqu’à une sorte de frénésie par la rivalité et l’orgueil de leur force, les deux héros — le fils du Sūta et le fils de Pāṇḍu — luttèrent dans un lieu désert, au cœur de la nuit. Tous deux puissants, ils ne cessaient de se tirer et de se heurter, leur duel nourri davantage par l’ardeur de la compétition que par la retenue.
