अध्याय १५ — कीचकस्य अत्याचारः, द्रौपद्याः सभाशरणगमनम्
Kīcaka’s coercion and Draupadī’s appeal in the assembly
राजपुत्री! आपके अधीन तो और भी बहुत-सी दासियाँ हैं; उन्हींमेंसे किसी दूसरीको भेज दीजिये। आपका कल्याण हो। मेरे जानेसे कीचक मेरा अपमान करेगा ।। सुदेष्णोवाच नैव त्वां जातु हिंस्पात् स इत: सम्प्रेषितां मया । इत्युक्त्वा प्रददौ पात्र॑ं सपिधानं हिरण्मयम्,सुदेष्णा बोली--शुभे! मैंने तुम्हें यहाँसे भेजा है, अतः वह कभी तुम्हें कष्ट नहीं देगा। यह कहकर सुदेष्णाने द्रौपदीके हाथमें ठक्कनसहित एक सुवर्णमय पात्र दे दिया
rājaputrī! tvad-adhīnāḥ khalu anyā api bahvyaḥ dāsyaḥ santi; tāsām madhyāt kām api anyāṃ preṣaya. śubhaṃ te. mama gamanena kīcakaḥ mām apamāniṣyati. sudēṣṇovāca: naiva tvāṃ jātu hiṃsyāt sa itaḥ samprēṣitāṃ mayā. ity uktvā pradadau pātraṃ sa-pidhānaṃ hiraṇmayam.
«Princesse, tu as encore bien d’autres servantes sous ton autorité ; envoie l’une d’elles. Que le bien t’échoie. Si j’y vais, Kīcaka m’outragera.» Sudeṣṇā répondit : «Ô belle, puisque c’est moi qui t’envoie d’ici, il ne te fera jamais de mal.» Puis, disant cela, Sudeṣṇā plaça dans la main de Draupadī un vase d’or muni d’un couvercle.
