पतिव्रता महाभागा सतत ब्रह्म॒वादिनी । द्रौपदी च कथं ब्रह्मन्नजज्ञाता द:खितावसत्‌

Transliteration

pativratā mahābhāgā satataṁ brahmavādinī | draupadī ca kathaṁ brahmann ajñātā duḥkhitāvasat ||

Translation

Janamejaya dit : «Ô brahmane, comment Draupadī —fidèle à ses époux, grandement fortunée et toujours vouée à la parole sacrée— a-t-elle pu demeurer cachée et vivre là, accablée de chagrin ? Et comment, par crainte de Duryodhana, mes ancêtres les Pāṇḍava ont-ils traversé dans la cité de Virāṭa leur temps de vie incognito, en endurant les épreuves ?»
